Rotary Reading Buddies Program at West Elementary

May 24, 2010 by Vivid Image Leave a Comment

Greetings fellow Rotarians -

IMG_0394Friday was the last day for our Rotary Reading Buddies program at West Elementary. All 72 kids that participated received a goodie bag filled with a book, sidewalk chalk, a puzzle, a pencil, and a card game along with a letter to their families explaining the reading buddy program and the $3,000 CAP grant that was used to purchase the leveled literacy intervention kits. Pictured are Rotarians Dan Honsey and Sheila Elder reading the book, Zin, Zin, Zin, A Violin, aloud with students. Thanks to all those that volunteered! It was great fun, and the students really enjoyed it. I met one of my reading buddies at the grocery store today, and she smiled and waved hello like we were old friends!  — Diana
